Types of sports massage
A preliminary massage is performed before exercise: it warms up the muscles and increases their elasticity. Recovery is carried out after training or competition - it accelerates the elimination of metabolic products and reduces muscle pain. Separately, there is a maintenance massage in the training cycle, which helps prevent overexertion and injury. The technique is noticeably more intense than the classical one, with an emphasis on deep kneading of working muscle groups.
What does massage give?
Massage improves blood circulation and lymphatic drainage in the affected area, relieves muscle spasm, reduces pain and increases mobility. For chronic back and neck pain, it is included in standard treatment regimens along with physical therapy.
The effect is cumulative: after one session, temporary relaxation occurs, and a lasting result appears by the end of a course of 8–10 procedures.
