Psoriasis
Psoriasis is a chronic autoimmune disease in which skin cells divide several times faster than normal. Without having time to ripen and peel off, they accumulate and form characteristic red plaques with silvery scales. Psoriasis is not contagious through any contact - this is the first thing that both the patient and those around him need to know. It cannot be cured yet, but modern therapy makes it possible to achieve complete cleansing of the skin and maintain remission for years.

Atopic dermatitis
Atopic dermatitis is a chronic inflammatory skin disease, which is based on a violation of the skin barrier. The skin loses moisture, becomes dry and easily allows irritants and allergens to pass through - hence inflammation and painful itching. The disease most often begins in the first year of life, and for most children it becomes much easier with age. The key to control is not the search for “that same product,” but the daily restoration of the barrier with emollients, which parents are often not told about.

Urticaria
Hives are a condition in which itchy blisters suddenly appear on the skin, similar to a nettle sting. The key feature that distinguishes it from other rashes: each individual blister lasts less than a day and disappears without a trace, although new ones continue to appear. Contrary to popular belief, allergies are not always the cause: with chronic urticaria, which lasts for months, a specific allergen is rarely found, and searching for it with tests is usually useless.

Acne (acne disease)
Acne is a disease of the sebaceous glands and hair follicles, the most common reason for visiting a dermatologist in adolescents and young adults. Contrary to popular belief, acne does not arise from “dirty skin” or directly from sweets: it is based on excess sebum production, blockage of the duct, proliferation of the bacteria C. acnes and inflammation. Understanding this changes the tactics: aggressive washing and squeezing do not help, but correctly selected therapy eliminates rashes in almost everyone.

Acne on the back and chest
Acne on the back and chest is the same disease of the sebaceous glands as on the face, but in areas with particularly large and active glands. The mechanism is the same: excess sebum, thickening of the mouth of the hair follicle, proliferation of the Cutibacterium acnes bacterium and inflammation. Hence the black spots, red nodules and pustules, which are often painful and leave spots and scars. The process is stimulated by hormonal fluctuations, friction from thick clothing and a backpack, heat and sweating, fatty creams and some medications. Rashes on the body are more difficult to treat and take longer than on the face, so it is important not to press on the elements and consult a doctor in time.

Actinic (solar) keratosis
Actinic keratoses are areas of sun-damaged skin where the cells on the top layer have changed and started to grow abnormally. It looks like rough, sandpaper-like pink or flesh-colored spots with dense scales, which are often easier to feel than to see. They appear where the skin has been exposed to ultraviolet radiation for decades: on the face, ears, bald spot, bridge of the nose, back of the hands and forearms. Doctors consider this condition to be precancerous: some lesions can turn into squamous cell skin cancer. It is impossible to predict in advance which specific lesion will degenerate, so it is customary to treat them. Residents of sunny regions encounter this especially often.

Allergic dermatitis and toxicoderma
Allergic dermatitis in everyday life refers to various inflammatory reactions of the skin to an allergen. Doctors distinguish among them contact dermatitis, which occurs when the skin comes into contact with a substance, and toxicerma - a rash caused by a substance that has entered the body: with pills, injections, or less often with food. Most often, toxicerma is provoked by antibiotics, anticonvulsants and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. It usually appears as an itchy red rash a few days after starting use and goes away once the culprit is discontinued. However, there are severe forms with damage to the mucous membranes, detachment of the skin and internal organs, which require immediate hospitalization. Therefore, any rash during treatment should be shown to a doctor.

Allergy to cosmetics
An allergy to cosmetics is most often allergic contact dermatitis: a delayed immune reaction to a specific component of the product. Manifestations do not appear immediately, but 12–72 hours after contact, so the connection with a new cream or hair dye is not always noticed. The skin turns red, swells, itches, small blisters may appear, then peeling. Irritable dermatitis stands out separately: it occurs faster, without the participation of the immune system, simply from an aggressive composition or too frequent use. An important point: a reaction can develop to a product that you have used for years, because sensitivity develops gradually. The main thing in treatment is to find and remove the culprit component.

Allergy to insect bites
The bite of a bee, wasp, hornet or mosquito in most people causes the usual local reaction: pain, redness and swelling of several centimeters, which disappears in one to two days. Allergies are said to occur when the reaction clearly goes beyond these limits. There is a major local reaction - swelling of more than 10 centimeters, lasting longer than a day, and a systemic allergic reaction in which the entire body suffers: hives appear throughout the body, swelling of the face and larynx, shortness of breath, drop in pressure. The latter is life-threatening and requires immediate help. People with a history of this reaction should carry doctor-prescribed first aid supplies.

Anal itching
Anal itching is an unpleasant, sometimes painful sensation of itching and burning in the anus. It can be mild and episodic or constant, worsening at night and disrupting sleep. Many people are embarrassed to consult a doctor about this problem and use random ointments for years. Meanwhile, anal itching has many causes: excessive or insufficient hygiene, humidity, hemorrhoids and anal fissures, rectal discharge, pinworms, fungal infections, allergic dermatitis to hygiene products, psoriasis, diabetes mellitus. A proctologist, through examination and simple tests, usually quickly finds the cause, after which the itching is successfully treated.
