Missed miscarriage
A frozen, or non-developing, pregnancy is a condition in which the embryo has stopped developing, but a miscarriage has not occurred and the fertilized egg remains in the uterine cavity. The woman may still feel pregnant for some time. The first thing that is important to say: in the vast majority of cases, the cause is random chromosomal abnormalities of the embryo, that is, an event that could neither be foreseen nor prevented. This is not a consequence of a lifted bag, a flight, stress at work or a cup of coffee. The feeling of guilt here is natural, but from a medical point of view it is groundless, and the first thing to do is to remove it from yourself.

HELLP syndrome
HELLP syndrome is a severe complication of pregnancy in which red blood cells are simultaneously destroyed, liver enzymes increase and the platelet count decreases. The name is formed from the first letters of these three characteristics. Most often it develops against the background of preeclampsia in the third trimester or in the first days after childbirth, but sometimes pressure and protein in the urine are weakly expressed, and the condition is disguised as poisoning, gastritis or a viral infection. The key complaint is pain in the upper abdomen or under the right rib, nausea and severe weakness. The condition is life-threatening and requires immediate hospitalization.

Anemia after childbirth
Anemia after childbirth is a decrease in hemoglobin levels, due to which tissues receive less oxygen. In the vast majority of cases, it is iron deficiency. The reasons are complex: during pregnancy, the need for iron increases sharply, part of the reserves goes to the child, and blood is lost during childbirth. If iron stores were reduced before pregnancy, the deficiency becomes pronounced. The woman attributes weakness, dizziness, shortness of breath when climbing stairs and hair loss to fatigue with the baby, although the cause is treatable. Anemia in a new mother is not a small thing: it impairs recovery, mood and exercise tolerance, so it needs to be identified and treated.

Anemia during pregnancy
Anemia during pregnancy is a decrease in hemoglobin below 110 g/l in the first and third trimesters and below 105 g/l in the second. Most often, its cause is iron deficiency: during pregnancy, the mother's blood volume increases, and the growing baby and placenta need a lot of iron. If the reserves were small even before conception, they are not enough. Less commonly, anemia is caused by a lack of folic acid and vitamin B12, hereditary blood diseases, and blood loss. A slight decrease in hemoglobin may not manifest itself in any way, but severe anemia causes weakness, shortness of breath and increases the risk of premature birth and low birth weight of the child. Anemia is detected by a general blood test and treated with iron supplements prescribed by a doctor.

Pregnancy with a scar on the uterus
A scar on the uterus remains after a cesarean section, removal of myomatous nodes, suturing of perforations and some other operations. During the next pregnancy, it requires special attention: as the uterus grows, the tissue in the scar area stretches, and the doctor must be sure that it will withstand the load. Most of these pregnancies proceed normally, but there is a higher risk of placental failure and, rarely, uterine rupture during childbirth. Therefore, the woman is observed more often, the scar is assessed by ultrasound, and the date and method of delivery are determined in advance. The most important rule is to give birth only in a hospital.

Back pain during pregnancy
Back pain during pregnancy is one of the most common complaints, especially in the second half of the term. The reasons are clear: the uterus grows, the center of gravity shifts, the deflection of the lower back increases, and the hormone relaxin softens the pelvic ligaments, making the joints more mobile. Added weight gain, weakness of the abdominal muscles and a long stay in one position. In most cases, such pain is not dangerous and responds well to simple measures: correct posture, exercise, a warm shower and a supportive bandage. However, there are situations when back pain signals a problem that requires urgent medical attention.

Varicose veins during pregnancy
Varicose veins during pregnancy are dilation of the saphenous veins of the legs, perineum or vagina, associated with changes in blood circulation during this period. The volume of circulating blood increases by almost half, progesterone relaxes the venous wall, and the enlarged uterus compresses the pelvic veins, complicating the outflow of blood from the legs. As a result, heaviness, swelling in the evening, night cramps and visible dilated veins appear. For most women, the severity of complaints decreases a few months after childbirth. The main task during pregnancy is not to remove veins, but to relieve them and prevent thrombosis, so the basis of help is compression stockings and a regimen.

Intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy
Intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy is a condition in which in the second half of pregnancy the outflow of bile from liver cells is disrupted and bile acids accumulate in the blood. The main and often only symptom is severe itching of the skin, which begins on the palms and soles, worsens at night and is not accompanied by a rash. Sometimes dark urine, light-colored stool and mild jaundice occur. For the mother, the condition is usually harmless and goes away after childbirth, but for the baby it is associated with an increased risk of premature birth and other complications. Therefore, if persistent itching occurs in the later stages, it is imperative to undergo tests and be observed by an obstetrician-gynecologist.

Intrauterine infection
Intrauterine infection is the infection of the fetus with pathogens that reach it from the mother during pregnancy through the placenta or when passing through the birth canal. These include cytomegalovirus, toxoplasma, rubella virus, herpes, syphilis, HIV, hepatitis and a number of bacteria. It is important to understand: the presence of infection in the mother does not necessarily mean that the child is infected, and infection is not always a disease. Some children are born healthy, while in others disorders appear immediately, in others - months later, for example, hearing loss. Therefore, the approach is not based on fear of abbreviations in tests, but on competent examination of the pregnant woman and monitoring of the newborn.

Hemorrhoids after childbirth
Hemorrhoids after childbirth are one of the most common and at the same time most hushed up problems of young mothers. Every person has hemorrhoids: these are normal vascular formations in the anal canal that are involved in continence.
