Missed miscarriage
A frozen, or non-developing, pregnancy is a condition in which the embryo has stopped developing, but a miscarriage has not occurred and the fertilized egg remains in the uterine cavity. The woman may still feel pregnant for some time. The first thing that is important to say: in the vast majority of cases, the cause is random chromosomal abnormalities of the embryo, that is, an event that could neither be foreseen nor prevented. This is not a consequence of a lifted bag, a flight, stress at work or a cup of coffee. The feeling of guilt here is natural, but from a medical point of view it is groundless, and the first thing to do is to remove it from yourself.

Anemia during pregnancy
Anemia during pregnancy is a decrease in hemoglobin below 110 g/l in the first and third trimesters and below 105 g/l in the second. Most often, its cause is iron deficiency: during pregnancy, the mother's blood volume increases, and the growing baby and placenta need a lot of iron. If the reserves were small even before conception, they are not enough. Less commonly, anemia is caused by a lack of folic acid and vitamin B12, hereditary blood diseases, and blood loss. A slight decrease in hemoglobin may not manifest itself in any way, but severe anemia causes weakness, shortness of breath and increases the risk of premature birth and low birth weight of the child. Anemia is detected by a general blood test and treated with iron supplements prescribed by a doctor.

Pregnancy with a scar on the uterus
A scar on the uterus remains after a cesarean section, removal of myomatous nodes, suturing of perforations and some other operations. During the next pregnancy, it requires special attention: as the uterus grows, the tissue in the scar area stretches, and the doctor must be sure that it will withstand the load. Most of these pregnancies proceed normally, but there is a higher risk of placental failure and, rarely, uterine rupture during childbirth. Therefore, the woman is observed more often, the scar is assessed by ultrasound, and the date and method of delivery are determined in advance. The most important rule is to give birth only in a hospital.

Varicose veins during pregnancy
Varicose veins during pregnancy are dilation of the saphenous veins of the legs, perineum or vagina, associated with changes in blood circulation during this period. The volume of circulating blood increases by almost half, progesterone relaxes the venous wall, and the enlarged uterus compresses the pelvic veins, complicating the outflow of blood from the legs. As a result, heaviness, swelling in the evening, night cramps and visible dilated veins appear. For most women, the severity of complaints decreases a few months after childbirth. The main task during pregnancy is not to remove veins, but to relieve them and prevent thrombosis, so the basis of help is compression stockings and a regimen.

Hemorrhoids during pregnancy
Hemorrhoids during pregnancy are enlargement and inflammation of the cavernous plexuses of the rectum and anus. It worsens in many women, and the reasons are natural: the growing uterus compresses the pelvic veins, progesterone relaxes the vascular wall and slows down the intestines, and blood volume is increased. Add to this constipation and straining - and the nodes swell, begin to hurt and bleed. During childbirth, the pressure on the plexuses increases sharply, so often the first exacerbation occurs precisely after pushing. The good news is that most women's condition improves after childbirth, and safe treatment is possible during pregnancy.

Gestational diabetes mellitus
Gestational diabetes mellitus is an increase in blood glucose levels that is first detected during pregnancy and does not reach the criteria for overt diabetes. Placental hormones reduce tissue sensitivity to insulin, and if the pancreas cannot cope with the increased load, sugar increases. A woman usually does not feel anything, so the diagnosis is made only by tests: fasting venous blood glucose or a glucose tolerance test at 24–28 weeks. Without control, excess glucose leads to a large fetus, complications during childbirth, and hypoglycemia in the newborn. With proper nutrition, sufficient activity and self-control, most pregnancies proceed safely. After childbirth, diabetes usually goes away, but the risk of type 2 diabetes remains increased.
