Breast cancer
Breast cancer is the most common malignant tumor in women. And at the same time, one of those where early treatment changes the outcome the most: a tumor found up to 2 cm in size without affecting the lymph nodes is treated fundamentally differently and with a fundamentally different prognosis than an advanced one. The main problem is not that the disease is difficult to treat, but that at an early stage it shows almost nothing: it does not hurt, does not interfere, does not raise the temperature. This is why self-examination and routine ultrasound or mammography are crucial, rather than waiting for symptoms.

Fibroadenoma of the breast
Fibroadenoma is a benign tumor of the breast and the most common reason why a young woman finds a “ball in her breast.” It is not cancer and practically does not turn into cancer. But it is fibroadenoma that most often becomes a cause for alarm, because it is palpable as a distinct dense node. The key question in this diagnosis is not “is it dangerous”, but “is it really a fibroadenoma” - and the answer to this is given not by palpation, but by examination.

Prostate cancer
Prostate cancer is one of the most common malignant tumors in men. Its main feature and main danger is that at an early, completely curable stage, it does not give any symptoms. When complaints about urination or bone pain appear, we are often talking about a common process. That is why it is not waiting for symptoms that is crucial, but routine PSA monitoring after 45–50 years.

Kidney cancer
Kidney cancer is a malignant tumor that grows asymptomatically for a long time and in most cases is discovered by chance, during an ultrasound or CT scan performed for a completely different reason. This is both a feature of the disease and good news: incidentally detected tumors are usually small, and they can often be removed, saving the kidney.

Bladder cancer
Bladder cancer is a tumor that almost always manifests itself with one symptom: blood in the urine without any pain. It is the painlessness that is misleading - the episode goes away on its own, and the person does not go to the doctor. Meanwhile, at an early stage, the disease is successfully treated endoscopically, without removing the organ, and delay radically changes the prognosis.

Nodular goiter
Nodules in the thyroid gland are found very often: ultrasound reveals them in a significant proportion of adults, and their frequency increases with age. The first reaction is almost always the same - fear and the thought of cancer. In fact, the vast majority of nodes are benign and require neither surgery nor treatment, but only observation. The doctor’s task is to use clear criteria to identify those few nodes that need puncture, and not subject all others to unnecessary interventions.

Actinic (solar) keratosis
Actinic keratoses are areas of sun-damaged skin where the cells on the top layer have changed and started to grow abnormally. It looks like rough, sandpaper-like pink or flesh-colored spots with dense scales, which are often easier to feel than to see. They appear where the skin has been exposed to ultraviolet radiation for decades: on the face, ears, bald spot, bridge of the nose, back of the hands and forearms. Doctors consider this condition to be precancerous: some lesions can turn into squamous cell skin cancer. It is impossible to predict in advance which specific lesion will degenerate, so it is customary to treat them. Residents of sunny regions encounter this especially often.

Ameloblastoma of the jaw
Ameloblastoma is a tumor of the jaw that develops from the remnants of tissue that forms enamel during the formation of teeth. Most often it occurs in the area of the angle and ramus of the lower jaw. Formally, the tumor is benign: it does not metastasize and grows slowly over years. But it behaves aggressively in place: it gradually inflates and destroys the bone from the inside, displaces teeth, and thins the outer bone plate. There is usually no pain, so patients come late - when noticeable facial asymmetry appears. Often a tumor is found by chance in a dentist's X-ray. The key feature of treatment: after insufficient intervention, the tumor often returns, so the approach must be radical.

Basalioma (basal cell skin cancer)
Basalioma, or basal cell skin cancer, is the most common malignant skin tumor. It develops from cells of the basal layer of the epidermis, usually in older people, in areas exposed to the sun: face, nose, eyelids, ears, neck. Basalioma grows slowly, over years, and rarely metastasizes, so it is often not taken seriously. However, without treatment, the tumor grows into surrounding tissues - cartilage, bones, eyes - and can lead to serious cosmetic and functional consequences. It looks like a pearlescent nodule, a non-healing wound with a crust, or a flaky pink spot. With timely treatment, basal cell carcinoma is completely cured in most cases.

Intraductal papilloma of the mammary gland
Intraductal papilloma is a benign growth inside the milk duct of the mammary gland, most often near the nipple. Its main symptom is discharge from one nipple: transparent, yellowish or bloody, appearing spontaneously, without squeezing. The papilloma itself is not cancer, but it can bleed, and in some cases atypical cells are found next to it, so such formations are usually removed and must be examined histologically. It is important to understand: any spontaneous discharge from one nipple, especially with blood, requires a visit to a mammologist and examination, and not observation at home.
