Seborrheic dermatitis
Seborrheic dermatitis is a chronic inflammation of the skin in areas rich in sebaceous glands: scalp, eyebrows, wings of the nose, nasolabial folds, behind the ears, chest and back. Its most famous manifestation is dandruff. A key role is played by the yeast-like fungus Malassezia, which normally lives on the skin, but when there is excess sebum, it multiplies and causes an inflammatory reaction. The disease is chronic and prone to relapse, but is well controlled - provided that treatment is not stopped the day the peeling disappears.

Lichen planus
Lichen planus is a chronic inflammatory disease in which immune cells attack the basal layer of the skin and mucous membranes. The name is misleading: it has nothing to do with fungal “lichens” and is not contagious. It manifests itself very characteristically - flat shiny nodules of a violet-red hue with severe itching, and on the oral mucosa - a white lace pattern. Skin rashes usually go away within a year or two, but the form in the oral cavity can persist for years and requires monitoring.

Pink lichen of Zhiber
Zhiber's pityriasis rosea is a benign skin disease that frightens patients with an abundance of rashes, but goes away on its own. It begins with one large spot - the “maternal plaque”, and after a week and a half, small oval spots scatter across the body, located along the lines of skin tension, which is why the pattern on the back resembles a Christmas tree. The cause is believed to be related to the reactivation of herpesviruses types 6 and 7. The disease is practically not contagious and in the vast majority of cases does not require active treatment.

Alopecia (hair loss)
Hair loss is a complaint that is associated with completely different conditions: from a temporary reaction to stress or illness to irreversible scarring baldness. This is why “anti-hair loss shampoo” helps so rarely: you need to treat the cause, not the symptom. The first thing you should know: losing 50–100 hairs per day is normal. A persistent increase in hair loss, thinning of the parting, and the appearance of bald patches or areas of complete baldness are considered alarming.

Vulvar cancer
Vulvar cancer is a malignant tumor of a woman's external genitalia. Its peculiarity is that the tumor is literally in plain sight, and the diagnosis is often made late. The reason is almost always the same: persistent itching for years is attributed to thrush, allergies or age-related changes and is treated with creams. A rule worth remembering: vulvar itching that does not go away for several weeks during treatment is an indication for examination and biopsy, and not for changing the ointment.

Furuncle, carbuncle and skin abscess
A furuncle is a purulent inflammation of the hair follicle and surrounding tissues, commonly known as a boil. A carbuncle is the fusion of several boils into one large lesion, an abscess is a limited cavity with pus. The causative agent is almost always the same - Staphylococcus aureus. The main rule for all these conditions is easy to formulate: do not squeeze. This is especially true of the face - the area of the nasolabial triangle is connected by veins to the cranial cavity, and an attempt to squeeze out an abscess can result in meningitis or thrombosis of the cerebral sinuses.

Lichen sclerosus
Lichen sclerosus is a chronic inflammatory skin disease that affects the glans penis and foreskin in men. It begins with whitish spots and itching, and over time the tissues thicken and scar: phimosis develops, the external opening of the urethra narrows, and sometimes the urethra itself. This condition is considered precancerous, so it should not be left without observation and treatment.
