How does back massage work?
Back pain is most often associated not with the spine itself, but with the muscles around it: a spasmed muscle compresses its own vessels, metabolic products accumulate, and a vicious circle of “spasm - pain - spasm” is formed. Massage breaks this cycle, restoring blood flow and muscle elasticity. The impact is on the paravertebral muscles, and not on the vertebrae themselves—reduction and “clicks” do not apply to the massage. For disc herniations, the technique used is gentle and only during exacerbations.
What does massage give?
Massage improves blood circulation and lymphatic drainage in the affected area, relieves muscle spasm, reduces pain and increases mobility. For chronic back and neck pain, it is included in standard treatment regimens along with physical therapy.
The effect is cumulative: after one session, temporary relaxation occurs, and a lasting result appears by the end of a course of 8–10 procedures.
