What does massage do for joint diseases?
It is not the joint itself that is massaged, but the muscles and ligaments around it: it is their condition that determines stability and mobility. For arthrosis, the technique is aimed at relieving protective muscle tension and improving the nutrition of cartilage by increasing blood flow. After injury and immobilization, massage helps restore muscle tone and prevent contracture. The procedure is not performed in case of acute inflammation with swelling, redness and increased local temperature.
What does massage give?
Massage improves blood circulation and lymphatic drainage in the affected area, relieves muscle spasm, reduces pain and increases mobility. For chronic back and neck pain, it is included in standard treatment regimens along with physical therapy.
The effect is cumulative: after one session, temporary relaxation occurs, and a lasting result appears by the end of a course of 8–10 procedures.
