Plus antithrombin
Antithrombin III distinguishes the panel: its deficiency is the cause of “unexplained” thrombosis and heparin resistance, it is important to know before operations and when prescribing anticoagulants. The INR standardizes prothrombin for warfarin control. The panel is a reasonable middle ground between a basic coagulogram and an extended hemostasiogram.
When is it appointed?
- preparation for operations is a mandatory block;
- taking anticoagulants (warfarin - INR) - dose control;
- thrombosis and miscarriage - search for thrombophilia;
- bleeding: bruises, nose, gums;
- pregnancy - planned control of hemostasis.
Coagulation system
Hemostasis balances between bleeding and thrombosis: screening tests (prothrombin/INR, aPTT, fibrinogen) evaluate the coagulation cascade, D-dimer catches active thrombus formation, special tests (lupus anticoagulant, genetics of thrombophilia) look for the cause of repeated thrombosis and pregnancy losses. Before any operation, a coagulogram is mandatory - hidden disorders are detected before the incision, and not during it.
