Extended infusions
A number of drugs are more effective when administered slowly over many hours - two days in a room with an automatic infusion pump ensures the accuracy of the protocol; the port system makes long infusions comfortable and safe for the veins (installation is in the surgery section). Food, sleep, communication with loved ones - life is organized; the infusion completion line is monitored, the catheter is flushed according to the standard. Next is the inter-cycle interval at home and the next cycle according to the schedule.
Indications
- adjuvant chemotherapy after radical surgery (reducing the risk of relapse);
- neoadjuvant - tumor reduction before surgery;
- therapeutic - for common stages according to protocols;
- regimens with docetaxel and other drugs - as prescribed by the oncologist.
How the course works
Chemotherapy is carried out in cycles according to international protocols: the duration of the infusion depends on the regimen - from a 6-hour day stay to 24-72-hour infusions with accommodation in the ward (price list positions correspond to the duration and include the ward, food, premedication and staff work; the chemotherapy drugs themselves are as prescribed, docetaxel is available in “included” options). Modern accompanying therapy makes treatment tolerable: nausea is controlled in most patients. The port system (page in the surgery section) saves the veins from damage during long courses.
