Protocols with hydration
Platinum drugs and a number of others require a “water cushion”: drip preparation of the kidneys before and after infusion lengthens the day to 8–12 hours - a room with a comfortable bed, nutrition and diuresis control make this a calm day. Nurses monitor infusion reactions in stages; a doctor is available on site. This format maintains an outpatient rhythm of life even on “heavy” regimens; overnight hospitalization is not required if it is well tolerated.
Indications
- adjuvant chemotherapy after radical surgery (reducing the risk of relapse);
- neoadjuvant - tumor reduction before surgery;
- therapeutic - for common stages according to protocols;
- regimens with docetaxel and other drugs - as prescribed by the oncologist.
How the course works
Chemotherapy is carried out in cycles according to international protocols: the duration of the infusion depends on the regimen - from a 6-hour day stay to 24-72-hour infusions with accommodation in the ward (price list positions correspond to the duration and include the ward, food, premedication and staff work; the chemotherapy drugs themselves are as prescribed, docetaxel is available in “included” options). Modern accompanying therapy makes treatment tolerable: nausea is controlled in most patients. The port system (page in the surgery section) saves the veins from damage during long courses.
