What does it show
A filled bladder shows the thickness and evenness of the walls (thickening is a sign of chronic inflammation or hypertrophy in adenoma), stones and their mobility, papillary formations (suspicion of a tumor - further cystoscopy), diverticula, ureterocele, and the condition of the ureteric orifices. Measuring residual urine after emptying is a key indicator for prostate adenoma and neurogenic bladder: more than 50-100 ml indicates a significant violation of emptying and affects the choice of treatment.
