Who is it suitable for?
Entry-level products are used at the first signs of a problem: heaviness and fatigue in the legs in the evening, slight swelling of the ankles, single spider veins. They are also recommended for prevention for people in standing and sedentary occupations, during long flights and during pregnancy. The doctor’s task is to determine whether this level of compression is really enough, take measurements at standard points and select a model: knee socks, stockings or tights, depending on the level to which the manifestations extend.
Why is knitwear selected by a doctor?
Compression hosiery is a therapeutic product, not an accessory. Its action is based on a precisely calculated pressure gradient: maximum at the ankle and decreasing upward. This gradient only works if the size is chosen correctly.
The product “by eye” either does not create the necessary pressure and is useless, or it tightens and impairs blood circulation. In addition, with concomitant arterial insufficiency, compression is contraindicated - only a doctor can evaluate this.
Compression classes
- preventive – during long flights, standing work, pregnancy
- Class 1 - initial manifestations, heaviness and swelling in the evening, prevention
- Class 2 - severe varicose veins, condition after surgery and sclerotherapy
- Class 3 - chronic venous insufficiency, trophic disorders, lymphedema
How to wear it correctly
Knitwear is put on in the morning without getting out of bed, while swelling is minimal, and removed before bed. Wash by hand at a temperature no higher than 40 degrees, do not wring or dry on a radiator - high temperature destroys elastic fibers. With proper care, the product retains its healing properties for about six months.
