Emergency and planned
An emergency indication is ascending thrombophlebitis: when a thrombus in the saphenous vein rises to the groin, ligation of the anastomosis prevents pulmonary embolism; The operation is performed immediately under local anesthesia. In elective surgery, crossectomy is the first stage of combined phlebectomy or an independent procedure in elderly patients at high risk (elimination of reflux with minimal trauma). All 4–6 tributaries of the anastomosis are ligated to prevent relapse through the stump. Walking immediately; knitwear 4 weeks; Below is a treatment plan for the remaining varicose veins.
Indications
- varicose veins with reflux along the great/small saphenous vein - radical treatment;
- varicose tributaries and reticular veins - sclerotherapy;
- trophic disorders, previous thrombophlebitis of the superficial veins;
- aesthetic discomfort, heaviness and swelling in the evening.
Modern treatment of varicose veins
The goal of treatment is to eliminate the reverse flow of blood (reflux) through incompetent veins and remove varicose veins: combined phlebectomy solves this surgically in one procedure and remains a reliable method for severe transformation; sclerotherapy closes the tributaries and reticular veins with injections without incisions. The methods are combined according to the ultrasound map. After treatment, blood flow is reorganized to healthy deep veins; proper compression and active walking are the keys to quick recovery and lasting results.
