VEB activity
90% of adults have antibodies to EBV - the mere fact of “positive IgG” does not cure anything; the question is always activity: clinic + PCR + antibody profile separates acute infection, reactivation and trace of the past. Chronic fatigue “due to EBV” is attributed more often than it is caused by it - an interpretation with a doctor is required.
When is it appointed?
- discharge, itching, burning, pain when urinating;
- new partner, unprotected contact - screening;
- pregnancy planning and preparation for IVF;
- inflammation (urethritis, cervicitis, prostatitis) - search for the cause;
- control of cure after 3–4 weeks.
PCR is the standard for diagnosing STIs
Half of sexually transmitted infections occur latently, destroying fertility for years: PCR finds the DNA of the pathogen in any carrier, even asymptomatic. Each infection is tested with a separate test or panel as prescribed; absolute pathogens are always treated in both partners, conditional pathogens are treated based on quantity and clinical features. Collections from both men and women are performed in a clinic with proper technique; result is 1–3 days, treatment is prescribed by a urologist/gynecologist on site.
