Kyphosis (stooping)
Kyphosis is a backward curvature of the spine. In the thoracic region it exists in everyone and is the norm; the disease is indicated when the bend exceeds the permissible values and the back becomes excessively round. The reasons depend on age: in adolescents, most often it is postural stoop, easily corrected with effort, or Scheuermann's disease, in which the vertebrae acquire a wedge-shaped shape and the deformity becomes rigid. In older people, the leading cause is osteoporosis with compression fractures of the vertebrae, which causes the formation of a characteristic hump and reduced growth. Determining the cause is important because treatments vary dramatically.

Jumper's knee (patellar tendinitis)
Jumper's knee is a tendinopathy of the patellar tendon that damages its attachment to the inferior pole of the kneecap. Occurs with repeated jumps, squats and sudden braking: volleyball, basketball, athletics, football, weightlifting. The ligament does not have time to recover between workouts, microdamages accumulate in it, and the structure of the tissue changes. The main symptom is a pinpoint pain just below the kneecap, which at first only bothers you after exercise, and then during it. There is little inflammation here in the usual sense, so injections and ointments do not solve the problem: the basis of treatment is a gradual force load on the ligament under the supervision of a specialist.

Clubfoot
Clubfoot is a congenital deformity in which the foot is turned inward and downward with the sole, and its anterior section is adducted. This is not just an incorrect position: the shape of the bones, the length of the tendons and ligaments are changed, the lower leg muscles on the affected side are weaker and thinner. The deformity is usually visible immediately after birth, and often on ultrasound during pregnancy. It is important to distinguish true clubfoot from positional foot placement, which occurs due to a tight position in the uterus and is easily removed by hand. Modern treatment begins in the first weeks of life, it is gradual and in the vast majority of cases allows the child to walk and run normally.

Bone cyst
A bone cyst is a benign cavity inside a bone filled with fluid. It is most often found in children and adolescents in the upper part of the humerus or femur. The cyst is not cancer and does not metastasize, but it thins the bone wall from the inside, which is why the bone can break with little effort - such a fracture is called pathological. Often, it is the fracture that becomes the first manifestation: before this, nothing bothered the child, and the cavity is discovered by chance in the picture. A quieter solitary cyst and a more aggressively growing aneurysmal cyst are distinguished. Management depends on the size, location and risk of the fracture, from observation to surgery.

Osteoarticular tuberculosis
Osteoarticular tuberculosis is a form of extrapulmonary tuberculosis in which mycobacteria enter the bones and joints through the bloodstream. Most often, the spine is affected, primarily the thoracic and lumbar regions: the vertebral bodies and intervertebral disc are destroyed, a leaky abscess is formed, and with significant destruction, the spine is deformed with the formation of a hump. Less commonly affected are the hip and knee joints. The disease develops slowly, over months, so it has long been mistaken for osteochondrosis or arthrosis. The key to preserving function is early detection with MRI and comprehensive anti-TB treatment.

Torticollis (muscular and spastic)
Torticollis is a persistent incorrect position of the head with a tilt to one side and a turn of the chin in the opposite direction. In infants, the most common congenital muscular form is in which one sternocleidomastoid muscle is shortened and dense; Sometimes a compaction can be felt in it. In adults, the picture is different: the best known is spasmodic torticollis, or cervical dystonia, a neurological disorder with involuntary contraction of the neck muscles. Separately, there is acute torticollis after sleep or a draft, which goes away in a few days. Correctly determining the form is fundamentally important, since treatment approaches are completely different.

Pseudarthrosis (fracture nonunion)
A false joint is a condition in which the fracture has not healed and the healing process has stopped, and mobility and a semblance of a joint space have formed between the fragments. Delayed healing occurs when the bone does not heal in the expected time frame, and pseudoarthrosis occurs when healing has clearly stopped, usually six months or more after the injury. The person complains of pain when supporting himself, instability, and sometimes visible curvature of the limb. The reasons are mechanical - insufficient fixation and mobility of fragments, and biological - poor blood supply, infection, smoking, vitamin D deficiency. The false joint will not heal on its own, but with the right operation, the bone can be fused in most cases.

Bone metastases
Bone metastases are secondary tumor foci that occur when malignant tumor cells from another organ enter the bone tissue through the bloodstream. Most often they appear in cancer of the breast, prostate, lung, kidney and thyroid gland, and their favorite places are the spine, pelvic bones, ribs, femur and humerus. Tumor cells upset the balance between bone destruction and restoration: it weakens, persistent pain appears, and the risk of fracture from a small load increases. This is a serious but manageable condition: modern treatment relieves pain, strengthens the bone and prevents complications.

Hammer toes
Hammer toe is a persistent flexion of the toe at the middle joint that causes it to lift upward and push into the shoe. Most often the second finger is affected, less often the third and fourth. The deformity develops gradually: at first the finger can be straightened by hand, then the joint becomes rigid. A painful corn or callus forms at the top of the bent joint, and pain appears under the ball of the foot. The main reasons are imbalance of the muscles and tendons of the foot, narrow high-heeled shoes and concomitant transverse flatfoot with hallux valgus. At an early stage, correct shoes, insoles and exercises help; in case of severe deformation, surgery is needed.

Poor posture
Poor posture is a persistent deviation of the usual body position from the optimal one, in which the spine is structurally unchanged. This is a fundamental difference from scoliosis: if posture is impaired, a person can straighten up by force of will, and the deformation disappears in a lying position, whereas with true scoliosis, changes in the vertebrae always remain. Most often, the problem develops at school age against the background of long periods of sitting, heavy backpacks, weak back and abdominal muscles, and prolonged use of gadgets. Poor posture itself is not a disease, but over time it leads to back and neck pain, headaches and fatigue.
