Foot pain
The foot consists of twenty-six bones, many joints, ligaments and tendons and bears the body's weight thousands of times every day. Therefore, pain in it is very common and has dozens of causes. The key to diagnosis is precise location: pain in the heel when taking the first steps in the morning is typical for plantar fasciitis, pain at the base of the big toe with redness is for gout, a burning sensation between the toes is typical for Morton's neuroma. Pain in the foot requires special attention in people with diabetes, who have reduced sensitivity and any wound may go unnoticed.

Joint pain (arthralgia)
Arthralgia is joint pain without obligatory signs of inflammation, such as swelling, redness and increased local temperature. This is not a diagnosis, but a symptom, which can be behind very different things: overload and microtrauma, incipient osteoarthritis, viral infection, autoimmune disease, gout, problems with surrounding tendons and ligaments, or even referred pain from the spine. Details help to figure it out: how many joints hurt, is it symmetrical, is there morning stiffness and how long does it last, what intensifies the pain - stress or rest. It is based on these signs that the doctor chooses the direction of the examination.

Hip pain
The hip joint bears the main load when walking, so pain in it quickly changes the way of life: it becomes difficult to put on socks, get up from a chair, or walk the usual distance. It is important to understand that “hip pain” can come from the joint itself, from the surrounding tendons, or even from the lower back. True joint pain is most often felt in the groin and can radiate to the knee, pain on the side of the thigh is usually associated with the tendons and trochanteric bursa, and pain in the buttock with a shooting in the leg is associated with the spine. Both examination and treatment depend on where exactly it hurts.

Bursitis
Bursitis is an inflammation of the bursa, a small sac of fluid that cushions friction between bone, tendon and skin. These bags are located at the elbow, knee, shoulder, hip and heel. With constant pressure, bruise, gout or infection, the bursa fills with fluid and a soft, painful swelling appears over the joint. Movement in the joint itself is usually preserved, but becomes unpleasant. Most bursitis goes away within a few weeks after the load is removed, but it is important to distinguish regular inflammation from purulent inflammation in time: it requires an urgent opening and antibiotics. Recurrent bursitis requires a search for the cause, not just pain relief.

Elbow bursitis
Elbow bursitis is an inflammation of the bursa, which lies just under the skin over the olecranon and protects it from pressure. When inflamed, the bag fills with fluid, and a soft, mobile swelling the size of a cherry to a chicken egg appears on the back of the elbow. The usual cause is prolonged reliance on the elbows, repeated bruises, or a single strong blow. Less commonly, bursitis is caused by infection, gout, or rheumatoid arthritis. The key question during examination is whether there is suppuration: purulent bursitis requires urgent treatment and antibiotics, while aseptic bursitis usually resolves with rest and protection of the elbow.

Bursitis of the shoulder joint
Shoulder bursitis is an inflammation of the bursa, a small sac of fluid that lies between the bony prominence of the shoulder blade and the rotator cuff tendons. The bursa is needed to allow the tendons to slide freely under the bone. When it becomes inflamed and swollen, there is less free space, and when lifting the arm, the structures are pinched. Hence the characteristic pain in the range of raising the arm from approximately 60 to 120 degrees, the inability to sleep on the affected side and difficulty when trying to put the arm behind the back. Most often, bursitis occurs due to monotonous work with raised arms, rather than due to sudden injury, and responds well to treatment.

Valgus deformity of the knees (X-shaped legs)
X-shaped legs, or valgus deformity of the knees, is a position in which the knees are close together, and when they touch, the feet diverge to the sides. In children, this is most often a stage of normal development: the legs of babies are at first slightly O-shaped, straighten by about two years, then by three to four years they become moderately X-shaped, and by seven to eight years the axis approaches the adult one. You should consult an orthopedist if the deformity is severe, asymmetrical, persists after eight years, and is accompanied by short stature, pain or lameness. In adults, knee valgus is more often associated with arthrosis, injury or excess weight.

Varus deformity of the legs (O-shaped legs)
O-legs, or varus deformity, is a position in which the knees are spread apart and the feet are brought together, leaving a noticeable gap between the knees. In children of the first one and a half to two years, this structure of the legs is physiological and is associated with the position of the fetus in the uterus; As it grows, the axis straightens on its own. Alarming signs include persistence or worsening of deformity after two years, asymmetry, short stature, duck-like gait, and pain. Persistent varus may be caused by rickets, hereditary diseases of phosphorus metabolism, Blount's disease with damage to the growth zone of the tibia, and the consequences of injuries. In adults, varus is more often associated with arthrosis of the inner knee.

Pectus excavatum and keeled chest deformity
Chest deformities occur due to uneven growth of the costal cartilages, which either pull the sternum inward or push it forward. In the first case, a funnel-shaped chest is formed - a depression in the center of the chest; in the second, a keel-shaped chest is formed - a keel protruding forward. Both forms are usually noticeable from early childhood and increase sharply during the teenage growth spurt. More often than not, the deformity remains a cosmetic problem, but with a deep funnel, the sternum can displace the heart and limit the expansion of the lungs, causing shortness of breath on exertion and palpitations. The psychological side is no less important: teenagers are embarrassed to undress and avoid the pool and sports. Tactics are determined by the degree of deformation and its effect on breathing and heart.

Patella dislocation
Patella luxation is a displacement of the kneecap from the groove of the femur, almost always outward. More often it happens not from a direct blow, but during a sharp turn on the supporting leg: the knee goes inward, but the foot remains in place. The person feels that the knee has twisted and something has jumped out, the joint quickly swells. Often the patella resets itself when the leg is straightened, and the victim does not even understand what happened. The problem is that with the first dislocation, the retaining ligament is torn, and if there are congenital structural features of the knee, dislocations begin to recur. Therefore, it is important not just to straighten the cup, but to figure out why it has shifted.
