Complete package
An option for patients who prefer one total amount: the clinic provides the entire intervention set from proven manufacturers, the compatibility of the components is guaranteed by the operator. Clinically, the procedure is no different: selective catheterization, dosed embolization of 50–70% of the pool, control angiography. Observation with pain relief and control of tests (platelet growth is visible already at discharge), ultrasound monitoring of infarct areas. Next - planned treatment of the underlying disease by a hepatologist with restored blood counts.
Indications
- uterine fibroids with bleeding in women who want to avoid surgery or preserve the uterus (UA);
- fibroids before myomectomy to reduce blood loss;
- hypersplenism in cirrhosis (thrombocytopenia) - partial embolization of the splenic artery;
- preparation for operations on the spleen, some bleeding.
How embolization works
Targeted closure of the arteries deprives the pathological focus of blood supply: myomatous nodes after UAE are reduced by 40–60% in six months, bleeding stops from the first cycle, the uterus and fertility are preserved; with partial embolization of the spleen, the sequestration of blood cells decreases - platelets grow without removing the organ. The procedure is performed through a 2–3 mm puncture without anesthesia; post-embolization syndrome is typical (pain, fever for 1–3 days), relieved with drugs.
