When is the cartilaginous section sufficient?
If the bony dorsum of the nose is smooth, and the tip is not suitable - it is lowered, wide, forked, or the wings are too wide - there is no need to work with the bones. The surgeon models and fixes the cartilage, changing the projection and shape of the tip. This intervention is less traumatic, the swelling subsides faster, and the splint is worn less. Recovery takes about two weeks, the final form is formed in 6–12 months.
Plastic surgery of the central area of the face
The nose and lips form the central axis of the face: changes here are most noticeable and require the most precise planning. The surgeon’s task is not to make an “ideal” shape according to a template, but to bring the proportions into harmony with the rest of the features of a particular face.
Therefore, preparation includes a photographic protocol, discussion of expectations and, if necessary, computer simulation of the result.
