Who is this volume suitable for?
The option is chosen when there is excess skin, but the orbicularis muscle maintains tone, and fatty hernias are not pronounced. This situation is typical for patients 35–45 years old with initial age-related changes. The incision is made in the natural fold of the upper eyelid, a marked strip of skin is excised, and a thin cosmetic suture is applied. This is the least traumatic option with the shortest recovery.
What does blepharoplasty solve?
With age, the skin of the eyelids loses its elasticity, the orbicularis muscle becomes stretched, and the orbital fat packs shift forward. The upper eyelid droops, the look becomes heavy, and “bags” appear under the lower eyelids. Cosmetics do not affect these changes - they are anatomical.
Blepharoplasty removes excess tissue and returns a clear contour to the eyelids. This is one of the most common plastic surgeries: it noticeably changes the facial expression, while the scar is hidden in a natural fold and after a few months becomes almost invisible.
The volume of intervention is selected individually
- only skin - with slight excess and good muscle tone
- skin and a strip of orbicularis muscle - with severe flabbiness
- skin, muscle and fatty hernias - with formed “bags”
- additional fixation of the fold - with pronounced age-related sagging
Not just aesthetics
If there is significant overhang of the upper eyelid, the skin may block the upper part of the field of view - then the operation also solves a functional problem. Before the intervention, consultation with an ophthalmologist is required: dry eyes, weakness of the eyelid ligaments and other conditions affect the choice of technique and volume.
