Genetics before surgery
The type of deletion decides everything: AZFc leaves a chance for microTESE (~50% of findings), complete AZFa/b makes the search futile - the couple avoids a futile operation and plans a donor program consciously. The found deletion will be passed on to sons (does not affect daughters) - genetic counseling is included in the route. Donated once, blood from a vein.
When is it appointed?
- pregnancy planning - basic check of a man;
- infertility of a couple - the first and mandatory analysis;
- control after varicocelectomy and treatment;
- preparation for IVF/ICSI and cryopreservation;
- suspicion of inflammation - culture and Androflor.
Why start with a man
The male factor is involved in half of the cases of infertility, and it is checked in the easiest way: one test instead of months of examining the partner. The WHO 2021 standard defines references; deviations in one sample are not a death sentence (spermatogenesis is cyclical, 72 days), the diagnosis is based on two tests. The clinic provides the correct preanalytical stage - delivery room, immediate analysis, standardized assessment - on which reliability depends more than on the “coolness” of the laboratory.
