The P2Y12 test directly measures the degree of blockade of the receptor on which the drug acts and therefore gives a more accurate answer than a general assessment of aggregation. The result is usually expressed in platelet reactivity units: too high a value means undersuppression and risk of stent thrombosis, too low means oversuppression and risk of bleeding. Between these boundaries there is a therapeutic window, which the doctor strives for. The study is especially in demand in patients after stenting when choosing between drugs, when planning surgery against the background of antiplatelet therapy, when you need to understand whether it is safe to operate, as well as when thrombotic or hemorrhagic complications develop during treatment.

How to read the result
Reference values depend on the method and equipment of the laboratory, so it is correct to compare results only within the same laboratory. A deviation of a few percent from the normal limit in itself rarely matters - the overall picture and dynamics are important.
The analysis must be interpreted by a doctor: an isolated indicator without a clinical context is often misleading and leads to unnecessary examinations.
