Spiral included
The clinic uses certified T-shaped copper-containing IUDs; the doctor selects the size based on the length of the uterine cavity (measured with a probe) and ultrasound data. The patient does not need to buy the spiral herself and check its quality and expiration date. If you want to install a hormonal system (Mirena and analogues), it is purchased separately, and the IUD is inserted without a coil. After installation - ultrasound control every month, then annually; removal at the end of the term or at will at any time.
Indications and types of spirals
- long-term reversible contraception in parous and nulliparous women (according to indications);
- copper-containing IUDs - 5–10 years, without hormones, can increase menstruation;
- hormonal IUDs (levonorgestrel) - 5–8 years, reduce bleeding, treat hyperplasia, adenomyosis, fibroids with bleeding;
- emergency contraception with a copper-containing IUD for 5 days;
- contraindications: pregnancy, acute inflammation, uterine abnormalities, unexplained bleeding, for copper - heavy menstruation.
How it works
The copper coil creates an environment in the uterine cavity that is harmful to sperm and prevents implantation; the hormonal hormone secretes levonorgestrel, which thickens cervical mucus and thins the endometrium, causing menstruation to become scanty or stop. The effectiveness of both types is 99%, the action begins immediately, fertility is restored in the first cycle after removal. The IUD does not protect against infections, so a healthy smear before insertion and a stable partner are important.
