Kidney infarction
Renal infarction is the death of a section of kidney tissue due to a sudden cessation of blood flow through the artery supplying it. The lumen of the vessel is blocked by a thrombus that has broken away from the heart or aorta, or blood stops flowing due to dissection of the artery wall. This manifests itself as sharp pain in the lower back or side, nausea, increased blood pressure and often blood in the urine. The picture is very similar to renal colic, so the diagnosis is often made with a delay, and the matter is decided by computed tomography with contrast. The faster blood flow is restored, the more tissue can be saved, so if there is sudden severe pain in the side, you need to call an ambulance by calling 103.

Sexually transmitted infections (STIs)
Sexually transmitted infections are a group of diseases that are transmitted through vaginal, anal and oral contact, and some through blood and from mother to child. The pathogens are different: bacteria, viruses, protozoa. The main feature of STIs is that they often occur without symptoms, especially in women, and a person does not know about the infection for years, continuing to transmit the infection. Untreated infections rise higher along the genital tract and lead to inflammation of the appendages, prostatitis, adhesions, ectopic pregnancy and infertility. Almost all bacterial STIs are completely curable if identified early and treated with your partner.

Cavernite
Cavernitis is an inflammation of the cavernous (cavernous) bodies of the penis, that is, those structures that fill with blood during an erection. The disease occurs infrequently, but is severe: pain, swelling and redness of the penis, a dense painful area inside the tissue appear, and the temperature rises. The infection gets there from the urethra with purulent urethritis, through the blood with another purulent focus, as well as with trauma, injections into the cavernous bodies or prolonged priapism. The danger of cavernitis lies in its consequences: a scar can form at the site of inflammation, which leads to curvature of the penis and persistent erectile dysfunction. Therefore, treatment begins urgently and usually in a hospital.

Calcifications in the kidneys
Calcifications in the kidneys are deposits of calcium salts in the kidney tissue, which the ultrasound doctor describes as hyperechoic inclusions. Most often they are found by chance, during an examination for another reason, and by themselves they do not hurt. Single small inclusions are often the result of inflammation or scar changes and do not require treatment. Multiple deposits in the pyramids of the kidneys are called nephrocalcinosis: this is no longer an independent disease, but a sign of impaired calcium metabolism - hyperparathyroidism, excess vitamin D, renal tubular acidosis, the consequences of certain medications. It is important to distinguish calcifications from stones in the calyces and pelvis and be sure to understand the reason so that deposits do not build up.

Prostate stones (calcifications)
Prostate stones, or calcifications, are deposits of calcium salts in the ducts and tissue of the prostate. They are often discovered incidentally during ultrasound in middle-aged and older men. Small calcifications themselves usually do not cause complaints and do not require treatment: this is a consequence of age-related changes, stagnation of secretions or previous inflammation. They become important if they are combined with chronic prostatitis, prostate adenoma, pain in the perineum or urination problems, since bacteria can persist in the stones. Calcifications do not turn into cancer, but when they are detected, the urologist evaluates the condition of the prostate as a whole. They treat not the findings on ultrasound, but the symptoms and concomitant diseases.

Urachal cyst and fistula
The urachus is the urinary duct that in the fetus connects the apex of the bladder to the navel. By the time of birth, it usually overgrows and turns into a dense cord - the median umbilical ligament. If the section of the duct remains open, a urachal anomaly is formed: a cyst, fistula, umbilical sinus or bladder diverticulum. For a long time, such a cavity may not show itself in any way and is discovered by chance on an ultrasound. But when an infection occurs, suppuration occurs: pain in the lower abdomen in the midline, thickening, temperature, and discharge from the navel appear. A festering cyst is dangerous if it ruptures into the abdominal cavity, so if you suspect a urachal anomaly, you need to be examined by a urologist or surgeon.

Prostate cyst
A prostate cyst is a fluid-filled cavity in or near the prostate tissue. Most often it is found by chance during ultrasound or TRUS, and it does not manifest itself in any way. Cysts can be congenital, when remnants of the embryonic ducts remain, and acquired, due to blockage of the excretory ducts of the gland due to prostatitis or adenoma. Most of these formations are benign, do not grow and do not require treatment: observation is sufficient. Large cysts that make it difficult to urinate, cause pain, fester or affect fertility require attention - in these cases, the urologist suggests active tactics.

Leukocytes in urine (leukocyturia)
Leukocytes in the urine, or leukocyturia, is an increased content of white blood cells in a urine test. Leukocytes are protective cells that gather where inflammation occurs. Most often, their number increases with urinary tract infections: cystitis, urethritis, pyelonephritis, and in men with prostatitis. However, often the reason is simpler: discharge from the genital tract is included in the analysis due to improper urine collection. Leukocyturia also occurs without bacteria - with stones, kidney inflammation, some sexually transmitted infections and tuberculosis. The test result itself is not a diagnosis; it is assessed together with complaints, urine culture and other indicators. It is usually not necessary to treat white blood cells alone without symptoms with antibiotics.

Lipoma of the spermatic cord
A spermatic cord lipoma is a benign tumor of adipose tissue that grows as part of the structures that run from the inguinal canal to the testicle. This is the most common formation in this area: it is soft, mobile, grows slowly and usually does not hurt. Often, a lipoma is discovered accidentally - during an ultrasound or directly during surgery for an inguinal hernia, since these two conditions often coexist. The doctor’s main task is to distinguish a lipoma from a hernia, spermatic cord cyst, and rare malignant tumor of adipose tissue. Therefore, the removed node is always sent for histological examination, and an ultrasound is performed before the operation.

Testicular microlithiasis
Testicular microlithiasis is multiple tiny deposits of calcium in the seminiferous tubules. On an ultrasound of the scrotum, they look like scattered bright dots without an acoustic shadow, which is why the picture is sometimes described with the figurative expression “starry sky.” Microlithiasis itself does not cause pain, does not interfere with erection, and is not a tumor or stones in the usual sense. Most often, this is an incidental finding during examination for another reason. What matters is not the fact of calcifications itself, but the accompanying circumstances: infertility, an undescended testicle in childhood, testicular atrophy, a previous tumor. They are the ones who determine whether observation is needed and to what extent.
