Gilbert's syndrome
Gilbert's syndrome is a common inherited disorder of bilirubin metabolism in which the liver is slower to bind the yellow pigment produced by the natural breakdown of red blood cells. As a result, the level of indirect (free) bilirubin in the blood periodically increases, and a person may experience a slight yellowing of the whites of the eyes and skin - more often after fasting, lack of sleep, stress, physical activity or a cold. At the same time, the liver remains healthy, liver enzymes are normal, and the duration and quality of life do not suffer. Gilbert's syndrome does not require treatment, but it is important to correctly confirm it so as not to miss liver and blood diseases.

Bruises for no reason
A bruise, or hemorrhage, appears when blood leaks from small vessels into the subcutaneous tissue. Normally, this requires a blow, but sometimes bruises occur from the slightest pressure or are completely unnoticeable. There are two groups of reasons: weakness of the vascular wall and blood clotting disorders - from platelets or coagulation factors. In many healthy women, bruises on the thighs and legs appear easily, and this is a feature of the structure of the blood vessels. But if the bruises appear suddenly, there are many of them, they are large, combined with nosebleeds or heavy menstruation, an examination is needed. You should start with a general blood test and coagulation parameters.

Weakness and loss of strength
Weakness is one of the most common complaints and at the same time the most nonspecific: it accompanies dozens of conditions, from banal lack of sleep to serious diseases. It is important to distinguish between general fatigue, when there is no strength at all, and muscle weakness, when specific muscles cannot cope with the load: the second much more often indicates a neurological problem and requires special attention. In most people, the cause is discovered with a simple examination: iron deficiency, thyroid dysfunction, lack of vitamin B12, diabetes, sleep disorders, depression. A separate and alarming situation is weakness that appears suddenly or increases against the background of weight loss and fever.

Senile asthenia (frailty syndrome)
Senile asthenia, or fragility syndrome, is a condition in which an elderly person’s body’s reserves of strength decrease: he becomes weaker, slower, gets tired faster, loses weight and is less able to tolerate any stress - illness, surgery, change of environment. This is not normal aging or character: frailty is identified as a separate syndrome because it dramatically increases the risk of falls, fractures, hospitalization and loss of independence. The good news is that the process is reversible, especially in the early stages. The greatest effect is not from medications, but from strength exercises, adequate protein in the diet, review of the list of medications and treatment of existing deficiencies.

Subfebrile condition (prolonged low temperature)
Low-grade fever is an increase in body temperature in the range of approximately 37.0–37.9 °C, which lasts for a long time. Before looking for a disease, it is important to make sure that the temperature is really elevated: the normal temperature fluctuates throughout the day, depending on the method of measurement, physical activity, food intake and the phase of the cycle in women, and in some healthy people it is initially higher than average. If the increase is confirmed and persists for weeks, it requires a systematic search for the cause - from banal foci of infection to diseases of the thyroid gland, rheumatic diseases and, less often, tumors.

Convulsions
The word convulsions in Russian refers to two completely different conditions. The first is a seizure: an involuntary contraction of muscles due to excess electrical activity in the brain, often accompanied by loss of consciousness. The second is painful muscle spasms, when, for example, your calf cramps at night; The brain has nothing to do with it, the reason is in the muscle itself and the exchange of electrolytes. It is important to separate them, because the tactics are different: an attack requires proper first aid and examination by a neurologist, and night cramps are more often associated with exercise, dehydration, magnesium and calcium deficiency, and taking diuretics. The first convulsive attack in your life is always a reason to call an ambulance.

Leg cramps (cramps)
Leg cramps, or cramps, are sudden involuntary painful contractions of muscles, most often the calf and foot muscles. The spasm lasts from several seconds to several minutes, after which the muscle may hurt for some time. Cramps occur especially often at night and in older people, during pregnancy, and after intense exercise. In most cases, they are benign and are not associated with a serious illness. However, frequent cramps may indicate electrolyte imbalance, kidney disease, thyroid disease, diabetes, nerve damage, or a side effect of medications such as diuretics. It is important to distinguish cramps from restless legs syndrome and pain when walking due to narrowing of the arteries. Simple measures and treatment of the cause can usually reduce the frequency of attacks.

Heat and sunstroke
Heat stroke is a condition in which the body can no longer cope with heat removal and the body temperature rises dangerously. It’s not just “overheating”: heatstroke affects the brain, kidneys, liver and muscles, so it is considered an emergency. Heat exhaustion usually develops before this, with profuse sweating, weakness and nausea, and at this stage the situation is still easy to correct. Sunstroke is a special case of overheating due to prolonged exposure to direct rays on the head. In hot climates, young children, the elderly and those who work outdoors are especially vulnerable.

Nausea and vomiting
Nausea is the unpleasant sensation of vomiting, and vomiting is a protective reflex in which the contents of the stomach are thrown out. These symptoms are triggered by the vomiting center in the brain stem and can be caused not only by diseases of the stomach and intestines, but also by poisoning, infections, pregnancy, migraines, diseases of the vestibular system, kidneys, heart, taking medications and even stress. A single vomiting after an error in food is usually not dangerous. But repeated vomiting, vomiting blood, severe abdominal pain, signs of dehydration, or nausea that lasts for weeks require a doctor's evaluation—sometimes urgently.

Enlarged lymph nodes (lymphadenopathy)
Lymphadenopathy is an enlargement of one or more lymph nodes. Lymph nodes work as filters and immune response stations: when an infection appears nearby, they enlarge because immune cells actively multiply in them. Therefore, most often an enlarged node is not a sign of a disease of the node, but of a nearby process: sore throat, caries, skin wounds, viral infection. Such nodes are painful, mobile and decrease within a few weeks. Others are alarming: dense, painless, fused with tissues, growing for more than a month, especially in combination with weight loss and night sweats. In these cases, an examination is needed.
