Anthrax
Anthrax is a particularly dangerous bacterial infection caused by Bacillus anthracis. The bacterium forms spores that persist in the soil for decades, so outbreaks remain in the places of old cattle burial grounds. A person becomes infected from sick animals: during forced slaughter, cutting up a carcass, processing hides and wool, and less often - by eating meat or inhaling spores. Most often, the cutaneous form develops: a painless ulcer appears at the injection site with a black scab in the center and swelling around it. This form responds well to antibiotics if treatment is started early. The pulmonary and intestinal forms are extremely difficult. Any suspicion requires immediate medical attention.

Staphylococcal infection (Staphylococcus aureus)
Staphylococcus aureus is a bacterium that lives permanently or temporarily on the skin and nose in a significant proportion of healthy people without causing any problems. This condition is called carriage, and in itself it is not a disease and does not require treatment. The infection develops when the bacterium enters damaged skin or blood: then boils, abscesses, erysipelas-like inflammations, mastitis occur, and in severe cases, damage to bones, lungs, and heart valves. Staphylococcus can produce toxins and quickly becomes resistant to antibiotics, so treatment can only be prescribed by a doctor, based on culture.

Tetanus
Tetanus is caused by a bacterium whose spores live in soil, dust and the intestines of animals. It enters the body through a wound, especially a deep one, a puncture wound or one contaminated with soil, and in conditions without access to air it begins to release a toxin. This toxin acts on the nervous system and removes inhibition from motor neurons, causing muscles to contract powerfully and continuously. The disease begins with difficulty opening the mouth, followed by tension in the muscles of the face, back and abdomen and painful cramps that can impair breathing. Tetanus is very dangerous and difficult to treat, but it is completely preventable with vaccinations and proper wound treatment, so any serious injury should see a doctor.

Streptococcal infection
Streptococci are a large group of bacteria, of which beta-hemolytic streptococcus group A is the most important. It causes acute tonsillopharyngitis, scarlet fever, erysipelas, impetigo, and in unfavorable cases - complications from the heart, joints and kidneys. The peculiarity of this infection is that a timely and complete course of antibiotics not only speeds up recovery, but also prevents rheumatic fever. Therefore, if you suspect streptococcal sore throat, it is important not to guess, but to confirm the diagnosis with a smear, and not stop treatment as soon as it becomes easier.

Strongyloidiasis
Strongyloidiasis is caused by the small nematode Strongyloides stercoralis, which is called the intestinal eel. Its larvae live in moist, warm soil and actively penetrate the skin of the feet when walking barefoot. Then they enter the lungs with the blood, rise into the pharynx, are swallowed and populate the small intestine. The main feature of the parasite is the ability to self-infect: some of the larvae mature directly in the intestine and reintroduce themselves into the wall, so the invasion persists for decades without new contact with the soil. People with weakened immune systems and those taking hormones can develop a life-threatening disseminated form. Therefore, before hormonal and antitumor therapy, it is important to exclude strongyloidiasis.

Subfebrile condition (prolonged low temperature)
Low-grade fever is an increase in body temperature in the range of approximately 37.0–37.9 °C, which lasts for a long time. Before looking for a disease, it is important to make sure that the temperature is really elevated: the normal temperature fluctuates throughout the day, depending on the method of measurement, physical activity, food intake and the phase of the cycle in women, and in some healthy people it is initially higher than average. If the increase is confirmed and persists for weeks, it requires a systematic search for the cause - from banal foci of infection to diseases of the thyroid gland, rheumatic diseases and, less often, tumors.

Skin rash
A rash is a change in the skin that differs from normal in color, density or texture. It is not a diagnosis, but a sign: identical-looking rashes can be a manifestation of an allergy, infection, autoimmune process, reaction to a medicine or a bite. For the doctor, not only the type of elements is important, but also their location, order of appearance, the presence of itching, temperature, and general malaise. Most of the rashes are harmless and go away on their own, but there are conditions in which the clock counts: a rash that does not fade when pressed, swelling of the face and difficulty breathing, extensive peeling of the skin. Taeniasis and teniarinhoz (tapeworms)
Taeniasis and teniarinhoz are diseases caused by tapeworms: pork and bovine tapeworms. A person becomes infected by eating undercooked or fried meat with parasite larvae. In the intestines, the worm grows up to several meters and lives for years, separating segments that come out with feces or crawl out on their own. Symptoms are often scant: nausea, unstable stools, abdominal pain, weakness, weight loss with good appetite. The main danger of pork tapeworm is that when its eggs are ingested, the larvae can enter the muscles, eyes and brain, causing cysticercosis. Therefore, treatment is always carried out under the supervision of a doctor.

Toxocariasis
Toxocariasis is a parasitic disease caused by the larvae of roundworms in dogs and cats. A person becomes infected by ingesting Toxocara eggs with particles of soil and sand, unwashed greens, or after contact with contaminated animal fur. In the human body, the larvae do not grow into adult worms and are not passed in the feces, so the usual stool test for helminth eggs does not find them. Instead, the larvae migrate through the blood to the liver, lungs, eyes and nervous system, causing allergic inflammation. Preschool children who play in the sandbox get sick more often. Characterized by a prolonged cough, rash, abdominal pain and persistently high eosinophils in the blood; the doctor prescribes the treatment.

Toxoplasmosis
Toxoplasmosis is caused by a single-celled parasite for which cats are the main host and humans are the occasional host. You can get infected not only from a cat: much more often the source is poorly cooked meat, unwashed vegetables and herbs, and working with soil without gloves. In a healthy person, the infection usually goes unnoticed or as a mild ailment with enlarged lymph nodes, and then the parasite remains dormant in the body and does not cause harm. The danger arises in two situations: with primary infection during pregnancy, when damage to the fetus is possible, and with a pronounced decrease in immunity, when a dormant infection can be activated.
