How it goes
After infiltrating the anesthetic into the area of the frenulum, the surgeon cuts it across in the most tense place, if there are scars from previous tears, excises them, then sews the wound in the longitudinal direction with 3-4 thin absorbable sutures - the frenulum is lengthened by 1-1.5 cm. The frenulum artery is coagulated to prevent bleeding. The patient immediately goes home; Daily treatment with an antiseptic and loose underwear ensure healing in 7–10 days.
When is frenulotomy needed?
The short frenulum of the foreskin is stretched during erection, pulling the head down, causing pain during sexual intercourse and tears with bleeding; repeated tears are scarred and shorten the frenulum even more. Frenumplasty eliminates the problem permanently in one outpatient visit. Often combined with circumcision with excess foreskin or phimosis.
After surgery
The wound is treated with an antiseptic for 5–7 days, swelling and discomfort are minimal, work is not limited. The sutures dissolve in 10–14 days, sexual activity is permitted 2–3 weeks after complete healing. The result is free exposure of the head without tension or pain.
