When necessary
The procedure is performed for prosthetics of several teeth, complete reconstruction of the bite, production of complex clasp dentures and in the treatment of dysfunction of the temporomandibular joint. Without transfer to the articulator, the technician makes the crowns “blindly”, and the doctor has to grind them according to the bite for a long time. With a facebow, the finished work fits more accurately and lasts longer.
Why is the diagnostic stage needed?
Dental treatment begins not with a drill, but with diagnostics. Half of the problems - hidden caries between teeth, inflammation at the root apex, enamel cracks, early loss of bone tissue - are not visible during a routine examination and are determined only by an image or a diagnostic model.
A complete diagnostic complex allows you to see the whole picture and calculate treatment in advance: how many visits will be needed, which teeth can be saved, where a crown is needed, and where a filling is sufficient.
What is included in the primary diagnosis
- examination of teeth, gums, mucous membranes and tongue
- assessment of bite and teeth closure pattern
- targeted or panoramic x-ray according to indications
- intraoral photo protocol for monitoring dynamics
- impressions and diagnostic model when planning prosthetics
How often should you be checked?
For an adult without complaints, a preventive examination is recommended once every 6 months; when wearing braces or dentures - once every 3-4 months. This schedule allows you to treat caries at the spot stage and not bring the matter to the canal.
