The more complex the large atheroma
As the formation grows, the incision increases, and after removal, a cavity remains, which must be sutured layer by layer, otherwise fluid will accumulate in it. Large atheromas are more often fused with surrounding tissues due to previous episodes of inflammation, so isolating the capsule requires more time and accuracy. Healing takes 10–14 days, sutures are removed on days 7–10. The removed material must be sent for histological examination - for large formations this is especially important.
Atheroma of the perianal region
Atheroma is a sebaceous gland cyst filled with thick contents. It grows slowly and does not bother you for a long time, but in the perianal zone it is easily injured and suppurates, turning into a painful abscess.
The key condition for radical removal is excision along with the capsule. If the capsule remains, atheroma forms in the same place again.
Perianal condylomas
Genital warts are caused by the human papillomavirus. They grow, interfere with hygiene, bleed and are sexually transmitted, and certain types of HPV are associated with a risk of malignant degeneration.
Removal is mandatory, and the amount of intervention depends on the area of the lesion. Since the virus remains in the body, observation and examination of the partner is necessary after removal.
Why is volume calculated by area?
The cost and duration of the intervention directly depend on the size of the formation: with an area of up to 2–3 cm², a short manipulation under local anesthesia is sufficient, with a larger one, the volume of excision increases, the risk of bleeding increases and healing is prolonged.
