Why is laser useful for condylomas?
Condylomas are often multiple and located on thin, easily traumatized perianal skin. The laser allows you to work precisely: evaporate each formation to the base, without touching neighboring areas - this is important for healing without rough scars and narrowing of the anus. The absence of bleeding further reduces the risk of the virus spreading to adjacent tissues during the procedure. Treatment is carried out according to loci - individual affected areas. After removal, examination for STIs and HPV, determination of oncogenic types of the virus, examination of the anal canal from the inside and examination of the partner are required: without this, a relapse is very likely.
What is removed in the perianal area
The most common findings are genital warts, anal canal polyps, anal fimbriae, atheromas and papillomas. All of them are removed on an outpatient basis under local anesthesia.
The general principle is the same: the formation is excised within healthy tissue and sent for histological examination - in appearance, a benign formation is not always distinguishable from a malignant one.
Scalpel or laser
Classical excision remains a reliable and universal method. Laser destruction works without contact: the beam evaporates the tissue and at the same time seals the vessels, so there is practically no bleeding, and healing proceeds faster and with less scarring. Limitation of the laser - when the tissue is completely evaporated, there is no material left for histology, therefore, in case of suspicious formations, excision is preferable.
After the procedure
During the first few days there may be discomfort during bowel movements. Soft stools, good hygiene and sitz baths are important. Most patients return to work the next day.
