What is solved on an outpatient basis
A significant part of proctological problems do not require hospitalization: opening a thrombosed external node, removing the sentinel tubercle, treating and draining small abscesses, introducing drugs into the submucosal layer, minimally invasive manipulations for early stages of hemorrhoids. All of them are performed under local anesthesia and take from 15 to 40 minutes. The patient goes home the same day with recommendations on regimen, diet and hygiene. This format allows you to solve the problem quickly, without a sick leave or preparation for anesthesia.
What is removed in the perianal area
The most common findings are genital warts, anal canal polyps, anal fimbriae, atheromas and papillomas. All of them are removed on an outpatient basis under local anesthesia.
The general principle is the same: the formation is excised within healthy tissue and sent for histological examination - in appearance, a benign formation is not always distinguishable from a malignant one.
Scalpel or laser
Classical excision remains a reliable and universal method. Laser destruction works without contact: the beam evaporates the tissue and at the same time seals the vessels, so there is practically no bleeding, and healing proceeds faster and with less scarring. Limitation of the laser - when the tissue is completely evaporated, there is no material left for histology, therefore, in case of suspicious formations, excision is preferable.
After the procedure
During the first few days there may be discomfort during bowel movements. Soft stools, good hygiene and sitz baths are important. Most patients return to work the next day.
