How to correct horizontal deviation
The surgeon works with the horizontal rectus muscles: weakens one by moving its attachment point back (recession), strengthens the other by shortening it (resection). The amount of intervention is calculated in advance based on the angle of deviation in prism diopters. The operation eliminates the cosmetic defect and creates conditions for the restoration of binocular vision, but binocular vision itself returns only with subsequent orthoptic treatment. In children, the operation is usually performed under general anesthesia.
Modern eye microsurgery
Most eye surgeries today are performed on an outpatient basis, under local anesthesia and through micro-incisions that do not require stitches. The patient goes home the same day, and vision begins to recover within the first day.
Preparation plays a key role: accurate calculation of the parameters of the artificial lens, exclusion of foci of infection and control of concomitant diseases. The final result depends on this no less than on the operation itself.

After surgery
The recovery period requires discipline: drops are instilled strictly according to the scheme with a gradual decrease in frequency; you should not rub your eye, bend over or lift heavy objects for the first two weeks. Non-compliance is the main cause of complications, not the operation itself.
