The main idea of the method
With motor disorders, the child still learns to move - but reinforces the method that is available to him, even if it is incorrect. The longer such a stereotype is repeated, the stronger it becomes and the more strongly it affects the joints and muscles. Bobath therapy tries to intercept this process: let the child feel the correct movement and repeat it until it becomes habitual.
Role of parents
A lesson with a specialist is a few hours a week, and the child moves the rest of the time. That is why the method pays so much attention to how the parent carries, sits, feeds and dresses the child: it is these dozens of daily repetitions that either consolidate the result or nullify it. The specialist shows the techniques and checks how they are performed.
