Emphysema
Pulmonary emphysema is an irreversible expansion of air spaces due to the destruction of the walls of the alveoli. Instead of many small bubbles with a large gas exchange surface, large cavities are formed, so less oxygen enters the blood. At the same time, the lungs lose their elasticity, the small bronchi collapse during exhalation, and air is trapped inside - the lungs are overstretched, and breathing becomes heavy. The main reason is smoking; less commonly, industrial dust, smoke from burning fuel in the house and a hereditary deficiency of protective protein are to blame. The main symptom is slowly increasing shortness of breath. Destroyed tissue cannot be restored, but progression can be significantly slowed down and health can be improved.

Pulmonary echinococcosis
Pulmonary echinococcosis is a parasitic disease in which a fluid-filled cyst, the larval stage of the tapeworm Echinococcus, develops in the lung. A person becomes infected by ingesting parasite eggs with unwashed vegetables and herbs, water, or after contact with a dog in whose fur they are stored. The cyst grows slowly, over the years, and does not give any complaints for a long time, so it is often found by chance during fluorography or an image for another reason. As they grow, coughing, chest pain and shortness of breath appear. The main danger is rupture of the cyst with a severe allergic reaction and contamination. The main method of treatment is surgical.
