Thrombosis of the node - acute condition

With thrombosis, a blood clot forms in the node: sharp constant pain appears, the node becomes dense, cyanotic and tense, it is difficult to sit and walk. There are two possible approaches. Limited - removal of only a blood clot or a thrombosed node, which quickly relieves pain, but does not solve the problem of hemorrhoids as a whole. Radical - full hemorrhoidectomy with removal of all changed nodes: the volume of intervention is larger, but a repeat operation in the future will not be required. The choice depends on the severity of hemorrhoids outside the thrombosed node and the general condition of the patient.

Stages of hemorrhoids and choice of method

Hemorrhoids develop gradually: at first the nodes only bleed, then they fall out when straining and are reduced on their own, later they require manual reduction, and at the last stage they are not reduced at all. The treatment method is chosen according to the stage.

In the early stages, minimally invasive techniques work - latex ligation and infrared coagulation. In later cases, node removal is required: classic hemorrhoidectomy, laser technique, or desarterization with suturing of the feeding arteries.

Basic methods

  • infrared coagulation - non-contact cauterization, outpatient, for early stages
  • latex ligation - clamping the leg of the node with a ring
  • classic hemorrhoidectomy - excision of nodes, the most radical method
  • laser hemorrhoidectomy - less blood loss and pain
  • HAL-RAR - suturing of arteries under ultrasound control with tightening of the mucosa

What determines the price of surgery

Scope of intervention: number of nodes removed, presence of thrombosis, combination with anal fissure or polyp. Combined operations are more expensive, but eliminate the need for a second anesthesia and a second recovery period.

Recovery

The most sensitive period is the first 7–10 days, especially the first bowel movements. The key condition for a smooth recovery is soft stools: a laxative diet, plenty of fluids and, if necessary, laxatives are prescribed. You cannot push during this period.

Frequently asked questions

Which method is better?+
There is no universal answer: in the early stages, minimally invasive techniques are sufficient, in the later stages they provide only a temporary effect. The method is selected by the proctologist after examination and anoscopy.
Will hemorrhoids return after surgery?+
Deleted nodes are not restored. But if constipation, straining and a sedentary lifestyle persist, new ones may form over time.
Does it hurt after surgery?+
Soreness in the first days is natural and can be relieved with prescribed medications. Laser techniques are easier to tolerate than classical ones.
When can I return to work?+
For office work - after 2-3 weeks, for physical work - after 4-6 weeks.
