Ureterocele
A ureterocele is a cyst-like enlargement of the terminal portion of the ureter, which protrudes into the bladder like a vesicle. Due to the narrowed mouth, urine flows out poorly and stretches the wall of the ureter from the inside. This is a congenital anomaly that is more often detected in children, but is often found in adults when examined for stones or recurrent infections.

Megaureter
Megaureter is a persistent dilatation of the ureter, in which its diameter significantly exceeds the norm. This is not a diagnosis in itself, but a description of the finding: a dilated ureter may be the result of an obstruction below, a backflow of urine from the bladder, or high pressure in the bladder itself. It is fundamentally important to understand which option this is - treatment depends entirely on this.

Cancer of the pelvis and ureter
Cancer of the pelvis and ureter is a malignant tumor of the upper urinary tract, originating from the same urothelium that lines the bladder. The disease is much less common than bladder cancer, but its peculiarity is that the entire urothelium is at the same risk: patients with an upper tract tumor often subsequently develop tumors in the bladder, and vice versa. Therefore, observation here is lifelong.

Urethral stones and foreign bodies
A stone in the urethra is an acute and very painful situation: a stone that has passed from the bladder gets stuck in the urethra, the flow is suddenly interrupted, and urination becomes impossible. A separate group consists of foreign bodies of the urinary tract - fragments of catheters, suture material, migrated meshes and objects introduced from the outside. These conditions have one thing in common: they require endoscopic removal rather than wait-and-see.

Urinary fistulas
Urinary fistula is a pathological connection between the urinary tract and a neighboring organ or skin through which urine exits in addition to the natural route. This condition is difficult to tolerate: constant leakage of urine, skin irritation, odor, forced social isolation. At the same time, fistulas respond well to surgical treatment, and most patients return to normal life - the only important thing is to get to a specialist, and not to endure for years.

Phimosis
Phimosis is a condition in which the foreskin does not allow full exposure of the head of the penis. In young boys, this is a normal physiological phenomenon that resolves itself as they grow older. In adolescents and adult men, persistent or newly appeared narrowing is already considered a pathology: it impedes hygiene, causes inflammation and can lead to paraphimosis, a condition requiring emergency care.

Tuberculosis of the genitourinary system
Tuberculosis of the genitourinary system is the second most common form of extrapulmonary tuberculosis, and at the same time one of the most lately recognized. It disguises itself as ordinary chronic cystitis or pyelonephritis: the patient receives antibiotics for years, but the symptoms return. The key to a timely diagnosis is the characteristic combination of leukocytes in the urine with sterile cultures and an acidic urine reaction, which should alert the doctor.

Enuresis (bedwetting)
Enuresis is involuntary urination during sleep in a child over five years old. This is a very common problem, and the main thing that parents need to know is that the child is not doing this out of spite and is not being lazy. Enuresis is associated with the maturation of urinary control mechanisms, the production of a hormone that reduces nocturnal urine production, and the depth of sleep. Punishment and shame do not help, but only make the situation worse.

Glomerulonephritis
Glomerulonephritis is a group of diseases that affect the glomeruli of the kidneys, that is, their filtering apparatus. Unlike pyelonephritis, this is not an infection of the kidney itself, but an immune inflammation, and it is treated in a fundamentally different way. The characteristic triad - edema, high blood pressure and changes in urine in the form of protein and red blood cells - should be a reason to consult a doctor, and not to self-medicate with “kidney” herbs.
