Adrenal cancer (adrenocortical cancer)
Adrenocortical cancer is a rare malignant tumor of the adrenal cortex, a paired organ above the kidneys that produces cortisol, aldosterone and sex hormones. The tumor can be hormonally active or “silent”. In the first case, it is revealed by bright endocrine manifestations: rapid weight gain with a rounded face and purple stretch marks, poorly controlled blood pressure, muscle weakness, and in women, male-pattern hair growth and cycle disruption. In the second case, the formation is discovered accidentally during a CT scan or ultrasound performed for another reason. Any finding in the adrenal gland requires two answers: whether it produces hormones and whether there are signs of malignancy.

Nasopharyngeal cancer
Nasopharyngeal cancer is a malignant tumor of the upper pharynx, located behind the nasal cavity. This place is hidden: it is impossible to examine it without an endoscope, so the tumor grows unnoticed for a long time. The peculiarity of the disease is that the first manifestation is often not a nasal, but an ear symptom - persistent congestion and hearing loss on one side, because the tumor blocks the mouth of the auditory tube. The second common reason for referral is a dense, painless node in the neck, that is, an already affected lymph node. The disease is closely related to the Epstein-Barr virus and is sensitive to radiation therapy, which is the mainstay of treatment.

Liver cancer (hepatocellular carcinoma)
Liver cancer is a malignant tumor, most often represented by hepatocellular carcinoma, which grows from the main cells of the liver. It almost always occurs on altered tissue: with cirrhosis, chronic hepatitis B and C, fatty liver disease. The liver works for a long time even with significant damage, so the first complaints appear late, and sometimes the disease is disguised as a worsening of cirrhosis. The main practical conclusion: people from risk groups need to regularly undergo ultrasound of the liver, because a small tumor found can be treated radically, but an advanced one is much more difficult.

Esophageal cancer
Esophageal cancer is a malignant tumor that grows from the lining of the tube that carries food from the throat to the stomach. There are two main types: squamous cell carcinoma, more often associated with smoking, hot drinks and alcohol, and adenocarcinoma, which develops against the background of prolonged acid reflux and Barrett's esophagus. The danger of the disease is that the esophagus stretches well, and the first complaints appear when the lumen is already significantly narrowed. Therefore, difficulty swallowing solid food in an adult is always a reason to urgently do an endoscopy rather than wait.

Pancreatic cancer
Pancreatic cancer is a malignant tumor that in most cases develops from the cells of the pancreatic ducts (ductal adenocarcinoma). This is one of the most insidious tumors: the gland is located deep in the abdomen, and in the early stages the disease hardly manifests itself. When symptoms appear—jaundice, back pain, weight loss—the tumor has often already spread. If detected early, when the tumor can be removed surgically, the chances are much higher. Therefore, it is important to know the warning signs, especially in older people: painless jaundice, unexplained weight loss, and new-onset diabetes after age 50.

Cancer of the nasal cavity and paranasal sinuses
Tumors of the nasal cavity and paranasal sinuses are rare, but are insidious in that their early manifestations are almost indistinguishable from banal sinusitis. Most often the maxillary sinus is affected, less often the ethmoid labyrinth and the nasal cavity itself. While the tumor grows inside the bone cavity, it does not give specific complaints: the person is treated for sinusitis for months, washes his nose and takes antibiotics. A one-sided lesion should be alarming: one half of the nose is constantly blocked, blood is periodically released from it, and the sense of smell is reduced. Later, pain in the cheek, numbness of the face, lacrimation and displacement of the eyeball occur. Early endoscopy and CT determine the outcome.

Oral cancer
Oral cancer is a group of malignant tumors that arise on the mucous membranes of the cheeks, gums, floor of the mouth, hard palate and lips. The vast majority of them are squamous cell tumors that develop against the background of prolonged exposure to tobacco, nasvay, alcohol and chronic irritation. They are often preceded by visible precancerous changes: white or red spots that can be noticed during a routine dental examination. This makes the oral cavity one of the few locations where a tumor can actually be detected early and by eye. The early stage can be treated successfully, so any change in the mucosa that persists for more than three weeks requires a visit to the doctor.

Rectal cancer
Rectal cancer is a malignant tumor of the final section of the large intestine, part of the group of colorectal cancer. In most cases, it develops from an adenomatous polyp, and this path takes years, so the disease is preventable: a polyp removed in time does not turn into a tumor. The insidiousness of rectal cancer is that for years people have attributed its first signs - blood in the stool, changes in the frequency and shape of stools - to hemorrhoids. Any admixture of blood in an adult requires examination by a proctologist and endoscopy, and from the age of 45, examination of the intestines is indicated even without complaints.

Salivary gland cancer
Tumors of the salivary glands are a rare and very heterogeneous group of neoplasms. Most often they occur in the parotid gland, located in front of and below the ear, less often in the submandibular, sublingual and small glands of the oral mucosa. There is a pattern: the larger the gland, the higher the likelihood that the tumor is benign, and vice versa. Most parotid gland nodes turn out to be benign, but they cannot be distinguished by appearance and palpation. The rapid growth, density, adhesion to the skin, pain and especially weakness of the facial muscles on the affected side are alarming - a sign of involvement of the facial nerve.

Small bowel cancer
The small intestine makes up most of the length of the digestive tract, but tumors rarely occur there—much less frequently than in the colon or stomach. It is believed that this is facilitated by the rapid passage of contents, a liquid environment and active local immune defense. It is this rarity that creates the main problem: such a tumor is the last thing people think about, and its symptoms—vague abdominal pain, nausea, weight loss, anemia—are characteristic of dozens of more common conditions. In addition, the small intestine is difficult to access for conventional endoscopic examinations. As a result, the diagnosis is often made late, after obstruction or bleeding.
