The most common kidney diseases
Kidney diseases have become “younger” in recent years and are no longer an ailment of exclusively older people. Inflammatory diseases of the genitourinary system cause retention of waste and toxins and lead to problems throughout the body.
What kidney diseases worry you most often?
As experts note, over the past few years, young and middle-aged people have begun to complain more often about kidney problems. Most patients are often diagnosed with cystitis (inflammation of the bladder), pyelonephritis (inflammatory process in the kidneys) and urolithiasis.
If cystitis is considered a “female” disease: due to anatomical features, women suffer from cystitis more often than men, then urolithiasis used to be a male ailment. However, in the last 50 years, women have caught up with men in the incidence of bladder and kidney stones. Doctors believe that the reason for this is women’s passion for smoking, alcohol and generally leading an unhealthy lifestyle.
Signs and causes of urolithiasis
• nausea and vomiting
• frequent stool disorders (diarrhea)
• elevated temperature (from 37.5 and above) in the absence of signs of a cold
• burning sensation when urinating, blood in the urine
• frequent urinary tract infections.
A person may experience the same symptoms with cystitis and pyelonephritis.
The formation of kidney stones can be caused by:
• unbalanced diet
• frequent infectious diseases
• insufficient consumption of clean water or poor quality water
• hereditary predisposition
• low physical activity.
Why does cystitis and pyelonephritis occur?
Cystitis often occurs together with urethritis (inflammation of the urethra). In most cases, cystitis is caused by an infection in the bladder or general hypothermia of the body, which causes a weakened immune system. From the bladder, the infection spreads to the kidneys. An infection can enter the kidneys along with the bloodstream from a source in the body: a carious tooth, an inflammatory process in the lungs, uterus, intestines, etc.
During the inflammatory process in the kidneys, people often worry about:
• lower back pain
• swelling on the face in the morning and on the legs, disappearing in the evening.
Prevention of kidney diseases
It is important to treat any diseases in a timely manner, preventing them from becoming chronic. If you begin to experience nagging pain or a feeling that your lower back is freezing, problems with urination, chills, or changes in the color of your urine, you should immediately contact a urologist or nephrologist. The following will help you avoid kidney diseases and improve their function:
• maintaining personal hygiene, especially intimate
• physical activity, but not heavy loads. Static exercises, of which there are many in yoga and oriental dances, are especially useful for the kidneys.
• healthy diet: more cereals, vegetables and fruits, less salty, sour and fried foods
• compliance with the drinking regime
• strengthening the immune system and minimizing hypothermia
• normal body weight and prevention of obesity
• preventive examinations by specialists to avoid the formation of chronic foci of infection in the body.
