Centralized sterilization department at the VITAMED MEDICAL clinic

- How important is sterilization and why is it needed?

- The organization of sterilization services in the clinic is an extremely important event aimed at preventing nosocomial infections, as well as the complete destruction of all microorganisms capable of reproducing from medical instruments and medical supplies.

- How does the Central Sterilization Department (hereinafter referred to as CSS) of the Vitamed Medical clinic work?

- The OCS is located on the third floor of the clinic in close proximity to the operating unit and serves all structural departments.

According to sanitary and epidemiological requirements, the OCS has a complex of premises that are divided into three zones; “dirty”, “clean”, “sterile”. The premises are located in such a way that the flows of dirty, clean and sterile medical products do not intersect.

All products entering the OCS go through several stages of the technological chain:

1. Reception and disassembly of instruments.

2. Pre-sterilization cleaning. All medical instruments used for surgical interventions, therapeutic and diagnostic procedures and examinations are delivered to the washing room, where pre-sterilization cleaning is carried out using modern disinfection solutions.

3. Quality control of processing is carried out by testing for detergents and occult blood.

4. Picking and packaging. After drying, medical instruments are hermetically sealed in special craft bags and sent for sterilization.

5. Sterilization is carried out in a steam sterilizer with hot steam under high pressure, and for more gentle and highly effective sterilization of instruments and equipment, the department has a low-temperature ion plasma sterilizer LAOKEN 100, which allows you to sterilize an extremely wide range of medical instruments and materials: surgical instruments, optical devices, flexible and rigid endoscopes, microsurgical instruments, elements anesthesia and respiratory equipment, etc. Each sterilization cycle is controlled by chemical indicators. Evaluation and recording of control results is carried out by assessing the change in the color of the indicator.

6. Issuance of instruments to the clinic departments.

Thus, medical instruments and medical supplies at the Vitamed Medical clinic undergo all technological stages of sterilization cleaning, which allows patients to receive safe medical care.
