Child's head injury
Head contusion is the most common injury in children: babies fall from the sofa and changing table, preschoolers fall from slides and swings. In most cases, the matter is limited to damage to soft tissues: a bump, abrasion or bruise appears, but the brain is not affected. The lump forms quickly because there are many vessels on the cranial vault, and its size does not indicate the severity of the injury. The danger is posed by concussion and more serious injuries, which may not appear immediately, but after several hours. Therefore, the main thing for parents is to know the signs when you need to immediately seek help, and observe the child for the first 24 hours.

Whiplash neck injury
Whiplash is an injury to the soft tissue of the neck that occurs when the head is suddenly thrown back and then thrown forward, like the tip of a whip. The classic situation is being hit by a car from behind, but the same thing happens during a fall, in contact sports and on amusement rides. In this case, the bones usually remain intact, but the muscles, ligaments, and capsules of small joints of the spine suffer. Characteristic feature: in the first hours a person feels normal, but pain and stiffness in the neck increases after a day or two. Most people recover within a few weeks, and the main condition for recovery is not to immobilize the neck with a collar for a long time, but to return to movement early.

Chronic pelvic pain in women
Chronic pelvic pain is pain in the lower abdomen and pelvic area that bothers a woman for at least six months, is not associated solely with menstruation and reduces the quality of life. This is a complex problem: the source can be the genitals, intestines, bladder, pelvic floor muscles, nerves and spine, and often there are several causes at once. Often, after long-term pain, increased sensitivity of the nervous system develops, and then the pain persists even after the original cause has been eliminated. Therefore, the modern approach is comprehensive: examination by several specialists and treatment aimed at both the cause and the pain itself.

Cervicogenic headache
Cervicogenic headache is pain that originates in the neck and is felt in the head. The upper cervical vertebrae, their joints, ligaments and muscles are connected to the trigeminal nerve system, so the brain perceives irritation of these structures as pain in the back of the head, behind the ear, in the temple and even around the eye. The pain is usually one-sided, starts from the back and spreads forward, intensifies with an uncomfortable position, turning the head and working at the computer for a long time. It is often confused with migraine and has been treated for years as “osteochondrosis.” Examination helps to distinguish it, and treatment is based primarily on movement and work with the neck muscles.

Noise in the ears (tinnitus)
Tinnitus, or tinnitus, is the perception of sound without an external source: ringing, squeaking, hissing, humming or pulsating. This is not a separate disease, but a symptom that occurs very often, especially after 50 years of age and in people who work in noise. In most cases, noise is associated with hearing loss: when the inner ear transmits fewer signals to the brain, the auditory centers seem to increase their own activity. Other causes include cerumen impaction, otitis media, Meniere's disease, taking certain medications, and problems with the temporomandibular joint. Unilateral murmurs, pulsatile murmurs in rhythm with the heart, and murmurs with sudden hearing loss require immediate evaluation. Even when noise cannot be completely eliminated, there are ways to significantly reduce its impact on your life.

Wernicke's encephalopathy
Wernicke encephalopathy is an acute brain lesion due to a severe lack of vitamin B1 (thiamine). Classic signs include confusion, impaired eye movements with double vision and twitching, and an unsteady, unsteady gait. The complete triad does not occur in everyone, so the condition is often mistaken for intoxication, a stroke, or ordinary weakness, and time is missed. This is an emergency situation: without rapid administration of thiamine, brain damage becomes irreversible and develops into permanent memory impairment - Korsakoff's syndrome. Encephalopathy develops not only with alcoholism, but also with prolonged vomiting, fasting, and after gastric surgery. If suspected, urgent hospitalization is required.

Dizziness
Dizziness is one of the most common and most poorly understood complaints. The problem begins with the fact that this word describes at least two completely different sensations: true rotation, when the room is clearly moving around a person or he himself feels movement, and a pre-fainting state, when the eyes darken, the body feels weak, the floor “floats away.” The reasons for them are different, the doctors needed are different and the treatment is also different, so the first thing a competent specialist does is ask you to describe the feeling in your own words, without the word “dizziness.” The most common cause of true rotation is benign paroxysmal positional vertigo, abbreviated BPPV, and this is the rare case in medicine when the disease is eliminated not by pills, but by several precise turns of the head performed by a doctor in one visit. Surprisingly few people know about this, and that is why many have been taking vascular medications for years without any effect.

Tremor (shaking)
Tremors are involuntary rhythmic oscillatory movements of a part of the body, most often the arms, less often the head, voice, chin or legs. Trembling in itself is not a diagnosis: it is a symptom that can be behind a dozen different conditions, from banal overwork to diseases of the nervous system. Trigeminal neuralgia
Trigeminal neuralgia is one of the most excruciating pains known to medicine. It occurs in sudden attacks, similar to an electric shock to half the face, lasts from a few seconds to two minutes and can be repeated dozens of times a day. Multiple sclerosis
Multiple sclerosis is a chronic disease in which the body's own immune system attacks the myelin sheath of nerve fibers in the brain and spinal cord. The name is misleading: “sclerosis” here has nothing to do with memory or old age, but refers to areas of scarring scattered throughout the nervous system. Mostly young people aged 20–40 years are affected. Previously, a diagnosis was perceived as a death sentence, but today there are drugs that change the course of the disease and postpone disability for years - provided that treatment is started early.
